NAMC Economists, Mr. Bhekani Zondo and Mr. Ricardo Smith, participated in the Agriculture Energy Summit hosted by the Western Cape Department of Agriculture on 22-23 June 2023, in Rawsonville. The summit aimed to determine the impact of load shedding on agriculture, access the latest data and evidence on the different stages in the agricultural value chain, and to share the Western Cape Resilience Strategy. The summit also discussed alternative energy solutions and financing options for the agricultural sector. Their participation contributed to valuable discussions on ensuring a sustainable energy future for agriculture particularly for the Western Cape Province
